Services: Mold Flow Analysis
Mold flow analysis is the science of simulating a resin’s flow into a mold and the outcomes that may arise during production. This predictive process frequently uncovers part and mold design issues and enables corrective action before tooling production begins.
Other molders aren’t as committed to the value of MFA and may only use it sporadically. We believe it’s so important that we do it for every part we produce.
A well-designed and analyzed MFA can help you build tooling that consistently produces high-quality parts at a reasonable cost. A poorly done mold flow analysis can result in recurring part quality problems, expensive and time-consuming tooling changes, do-over loops that drive additional costs and delays, and endless frustrations for you and your molder.
MFA is a critical tool for designing successful parts and tools for plastic injection molding. But it’s only as good as the expertise of the team conducting it, and their ability to interpret the data it generates. NBP’s experienced engineering team uses it to identify potential problems with:
- Back pressure in the mold cavity
- Uniformity of flow throughout the mold
- Air traps
- Deficiencies in runner and gate design
- And much more
For more complex molding challenges, we work with The Madison Group, which can provide more sophisticated analysis of mold flow data and solve a range of advanced problems.
