Training and Development Specialist

Salary: $68,000 to $80,000 per year

We have an immediate opportunity for a training and development specialist  to develop and manage training resources and plans to increase productivity, and enhance workforce engagement, and retention. Coordinates training and maintain training records to increase talent reserves and improve individual career development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and development training programs and enhancements to the existing training program
  • Coordinates training schedules, and maintains training calendar, and training records database.
  • Assists with onboarding and conduct training for new hires, promotions, and job transfers
  • Conduct regular training progression review meetings with management
  • Provide direction to others involved in collaborating on instructional design or training methods.
  • Partner with functional leaders to design and coordinate learning programs.
  • Coordinate outside training activities, including professional development.
  • Ensure training activities and timely completion of BOK (Bodies of Knowledge).
  • Create training documents using standard work templates including SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions), and BOKs (Bodies of Knowledge).
  • Document and report on learning impact metrics.
  • Maintain the list of SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) and provide train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Continually enhance learning methods and materials based on business needs and feedback, emerging technologies, and resources.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Level of Education/Training/Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience required
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a learning and development environment

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to learn new software.
  • Familiarity with TWI training methodologies or military instructor experience a plus
  • Available periodic evenings with prior notice for program support
  • Spanish/English bilingual preferred.
  • Training experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Thorough understanding of training process and instructional design best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail in composing and proofing materials
  • Ability to work collaboratively to motivate across multiple levels within the organization.
